About Our Saffron

Where does your saffron come from?

From Herat Province, Afghanistan – one of the world’s oldest saffron-growing regions with over 3,000 years of cultivation. We source directly from local farmers.

What grade of saffron do you sell?

Super Negin grade – the highest quality available. Threads are 25–30mm, deep crimson-red, and ISO 3632 Grade I certified.

Is your saffron certified?

Yes. Every batch is ISO 3632 Grade I certified and tested for crocin, safranal, and picrocrocin – the three key quality markers.

Is your saffron organic?

We use traditional sustainable farming with minimal chemical use. We are not formally certified organic, but our practices prioritize natural cultivation.

Usage & Preparation

How much saffron should I use?

15–20 threads (approx. 0.25g) is enough for 4–6 people. Our Super Negin grade is highly potent – a little goes a long way.

How do I prepare saffron for cooking?

Bloom in warm water, milk, or broth for 10–15 minutes before adding to your dish. This releases maximum flavor and color.

Does saffron have health benefits?

Saffron is rich in antioxidants and has been used in traditional medicine for centuries. We recommend consulting a healthcare professional for medical advice.

Storage & Shelf Life

How should I store saffron?

In an airtight container in a cool, dark place. Avoid refrigeration – moisture reduces quality.

How long does saffron last?

2–3 years when stored properly. Best used within the first year for peak potency and aroma.

Ordering & Shipping

Where do you ship?

Worldwide. All available shipping options and costs are shown at checkout.

What is your return policy?

30 days from delivery. Items must be unopened in original packaging. Contact us first to initiate a return.

Do you offer bulk or wholesale pricing?

Yes. Contact us at info@zarmaxsaffron.com for a custom quote or visit our Wholesale page.

Quality & Authenticity

How can I verify my saffron is authentic?

Place a few threads in warm water. Authentic saffron releases color slowly, turning the water golden while the threads remain red.

Why is saffron so expensive?

It takes 150,000 hand-picked flowers to produce just 1kg of saffron. Super Negin represents the top 5–10% of all saffron harvested.
